Mark your calendars: Saturday, September 27 2025 is Local Comic Shop Day!
Local Comic Shop Day is a celebration of the role comic book shops play in their communities. These stores are more than just places to buy comics—they are cultural hubs where creativity thrives, friendships are formed, and stories come to life. Our mission is to highlight the unique impact of local comic shops, support these small businesses, and bring fans, creators, and retailers together in appreciation of the comics industry. Local Comic Shop Day honors the past, present, and future of these beloved neighborhood institutions.

What’s new in 2025? Comics + Community!
Local Comic Shop Day®, the annual event honoring brick-and-mortar comic shops, is getting a full revamp for 2025. Focusing on the idea of comic shops as community hubs, Local Comic Shop Day® 2025 will feature new branding, new activities, and new ways to celebrate why we shop local when we shop nerdy. The event, which will take place at comic shops internationally, on Saturday, September 27, will shift from its traditional variant-driven sales day to an entire campaign of events that will truly highlight what makes comic shops special.
“When we envisioned what Local Comic Shop Day could become, we really wanted to focus on the strength of comic shops as third spaces,” said Shannon Live, Vice President of ComicsPRO. “Comic shops are destination stores, which means the people who shop them make an active decision to choose that space, and a lot of that comes from the insane amount of work retailers do to make their shops feel like home. We wanted to reflect on that and honor it in the concept of Local Comic Shop Day.”
In addition to the reimagined celebration, ComicsPRO also unveiled a new logo for Local Comic Shop Day®. The logo, designed by Tim Daniel, writer and designer known for his work at Vault Comics and independent titles industry-wide spanning the last 20 years, reflects the idea of comic shops as a part of a neighborhood, while also invoking the small business feel.
“We asked Tim to redesign our logo to convey a change in direction for Local Comic Shop Day,” said Kate deNeveu, ComicsPRO Director of Operations. “Retailers want the event to be a celebration of local comic shops and their place in the communities. Our job at ComicsPRO is to bridge the gap and give participants the tools needed to run a truly successful community-building Local Comic Shop Day. Tools like pre-written press releases, signage and sale ideas, marketing assets, instructions for running kid-friendly scavenger hunts, and much much more. ComicsPRO’s greatest strength is the collective knowledge and experience of our members, and this year we’re putting it all to work.”
ComicsPRO is adding the following features to Local Comic Shop Day®:
- LCSD Official Ambassadors Patton Oswalt & Jordan Blum!!
- Discord channels for retailers and publishers to streamline the planning process
- A marketing and events guide to help retailers easily take part in the event
- And a catalog that will centralize the offerings for retailers as they plan their experience.
